A lunchtime tempo run w/ Darin. Today we flip-flopped from last week. He ran a 14-miler yesterday, and I had rested. So, I took advantage of his sore legs and ran 7:18/mile while he came in w/ 7:30/mi.

It was a little chilly, but not bad. No hat needed, but wore gloves for comfort, shorts, and 2 shirts. Took the gloves off for the last mile.

After working a marathon work-day yesterday..getting to bed at 2:00AM and back to work by 9:00AM, I just had to run.

Ran w/ Darin at lunch. Started out feeling great, but quickly faded. We started at about 6:55/mi for the first 2 miles...then I faded fast. Darin kept going and had AP of 7:10, I was 7:24.

Will try again tomorrow. More sleep! Better food/hydration.

50, drizzle, light wind.

Ran w/ Darin again today. Got a later start (12:30P). Today Darin wasn't feeling too hot (I think it's because I had him waiting on me..so he ate his lunch). We started slower then picked up the pace. Overall, we ran slower than yesterday, but felt so much better.

AP: 7:28

55F, overcast, NE wind 5-10MPH

Hope to get in a 20 miler on Saturday.

Slept in a little. Got to the trailhead around 9:15. It was cloudy, 48 degrees and not much wind. Perfect! Wore shorts, started with gloves, long-sleeved flourescent green shirt, and a camel-back with about 30 oz of water. I saw my buddy Corey's car in the parking lot (I ran his longest run last Saturday with him -- 18 miles. I knew he had planned to cutback this week, so I fully expected to see him on his way back within the first couple miles.

I chugged along for about 8.5 miles, and then I saw Corey, with two other buddies, Rick and Don. They somehow talked him into running 11 out (meaning he's doing 22 for the day, one way or the other!!! His furthest was 18 -- EVER, and that was week ago. I was doing 22 miles, so I did some quick math -- basically I was mile 8.5, and they were at mile 13.5 on a 22 mile run. I thought, if they ran about 13:00/mi, I might be able to catch them if I ran 8:00/s. Now that I'm home, I see that I needed to run 13.5 miles in the time it took them to go 8.5 --well it turns out that I didn't catch them..but they were sitting at the trailhead when I finished. Corey said he had to walk most of the last 3 miles, but he made it -- I'm proud of him. He's going for his first marathon on Feb 28 (Cowtown) -- Only about 8 months after starting to run. (I'm not sure if this is wise, but we'll soon find out)

AP: 8:31
