Slept in a little. Got to the trailhead around 9:15. It was cloudy, 48 degrees and not much wind. Perfect! Wore shorts, started with gloves, long-sleeved flourescent green shirt, and a camel-back with about 30 oz of water. I saw my buddy Corey's car in the parking lot (I ran his longest run last Saturday with him -- 18 miles. I knew he had planned to cutback this week, so I fully expected to see him on his way back within the first couple miles.

I chugged along for about 8.5 miles, and then I saw Corey, with two other buddies, Rick and Don. They somehow talked him into running 11 out (meaning he's doing 22 for the day, one way or the other!!! His furthest was 18 -- EVER, and that was week ago. I was doing 22 miles, so I did some quick math -- basically I was mile 8.5, and they were at mile 13.5 on a 22 mile run. I thought, if they ran about 13:00/mi, I might be able to catch them if I ran 8:00/s. Now that I'm home, I see that I needed to run 13.5 miles in the time it took them to go 8.5 --well it turns out that I didn't catch them..but they were sitting at the trailhead when I finished. Corey said he had to walk most of the last 3 miles, but he made it -- I'm proud of him. He's going for his first marathon on Feb 28 (Cowtown) -- Only about 8 months after starting to run. (I'm not sure if this is wise, but we'll soon find out)

I have found that math and running never mix!! For that matter I try to stay away from math at all cost.

Nice run 22 at that pace is great!

Cow town here you come

The best part about doing math during a long run is that it keeps you entertained for a bit!!

Very nice mileage and pace!!! Impressive. :)

Smart people like you and Teena can do math and find it entertaining. My math is fuzzy even when I'm not running.

You're doing awesome!!! Very COOL 22 miler and pace!!!

Yes, math and running don't mix!

Watching my Cowboys get their lunch served to them by the Vikings...maybe the 2nd half will be better??

From Huans32 on Mon, Jan 18, 2010 at 08:50:49 from 138.64.8.51

Nope the 2nd half wasn't any better for your Cowboys. Kristi and I are Viking fans. She is I think right now buying a jersey and a hat. LOL as I was leaving she said I was buying it for her too. Oh boy.. Lets just hope she stops at the jersey and hat.:(
