I took another "use or lose it" vacation day today. My wife droppe me off a Lake Weatherford while she went to a massage appointment. That gave me about 75 minutes to run before she'd be back to pick me up.

The weather was great. about 45, sunny, little wind when I started my run aroun 12:30pm.

I finished 1 lap around the lake and got about 1/2 mile into the next lap when she picked me up (1 lap is about 8 miles).

We ran some errands, then picke the boys up from basketball practice. I had her drop me off 2 miles from home so I could get in at least 10 miles for the day. I ran these last 2 at about 7:20/mi pace--quite a bit quicker than my leisurely pace around the lake.

Two things I aspire to be like you with.

1. Use it or lose it vacation days. I'd like to be at that point.

2. To be fast like you.

Nice job Marc!

Thanks, Maynard - I need to remind myself of how fortunate I am to have been employed with the same company for almost 20 years...with good benefits (and a fixed number of vacation days and sick days each year -- every Jan 31st our PTO (Personal Time Off) gets set back to 40 hours -- so if we don't use them, we lose them. As far as being fast like me, if I were you I'd aspire to be fast like Rhett or Tim or Andy...or ... :)

Nice runs.

Yes, good benefits are awesome. Here at work we can build our leave up to 240 hours and anything over we have to use before the end of the year or we lose the extra hours. Luckily they don't reset it back to 40 hours.

I wish someone was forcing me to take vacation days. Sounds like a fun day.

I love use it or lose it time. I took off all of December and the first week of January with my UIoLI time. The time off was great and I really put a kick into my training for 2011...Probably the reason I'm feeling so ready for the Cowtown!
