Ran a 2-fer. Ran 7.5 w/ Eric at lunch. AP: 7:50

Ran another 6 after work alone.

Heading to CO next weekend to run a nice, easy 26.2 miles down a mountain in Steamboat. Not sure what to expect from myself. I've been taking it easy with the running lately, and been swamped at work. It will just be a long run with benefits (finisher's medal, event shirt, and breathtaking scenery)

Nice 2-fer Marc-er!!

You know the drill - we want photos and a race report as soon as you can!

Are you taking the family or going alone?

From Kelli on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 19:31:47 from 71.219.98.183

It sounds like a GREAT run to me!!! Do not forget the camera.

From Smooth on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 23:22:54 from 71.32.237.170

Yeah, we want pictures and race report. HAVE fun! No goal time?

From DonGardinero on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 21:25:23 from 75.162.189.82

I predict 3:29:45. You are always in such incredible shape. Can't wait to hear all about it. Did anyone else take you up on the extra entry?

From MarcE on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 21:58:23 from 24.155.140.8

Thanks, Teen-er!

Kathie..The race report and photos will probably have to wait until I return on the 8th or 9th. I don't plan to bring a laptop, but I might. Heading to CO sans kids! Yes, a roadtrip without any fighting in the backseat! Woohooo! A couple of friends of ours from Denver will be going with us on Saturday. The free room ended up being a condo, so there's plenty of room for them. Our frind will be running the half mary, and will be heading back Saturday afternoon. We'll stick around Steamboat for another night, and head back to Texas on Monday..to relieve the inlaws of their duties as sitters, referees, chauffers, etc.. It'll be a nice romantic getaway...with lots of driving, a little running, and some great scenery. Can't wait!

Kelli - The disposable camera is #1 on my list. I've never taken pictures during a race before, this is a first.

Smoothie, no real goal time. I haven't been pounding the pavement much since Boston. I think I've been averaging about 20-25 miles per week. This will just be a long run to keep my fitness going into the fall training season. I'm a little concerned about the altitude. When I was in Colorado last year for vacation, I had a headache for a good portion of the trip. I'll be sure to hydrate very well this week. I'm guessing that I'll finish somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00. I'll wear my HR monitor and keep it in a nice comfortable zone 130-140 for the first 20 miles..we'll see what pace that ends up being with the terrain and altitude. Your guess is as good as mine.

Dale, 3:29:45 would be a few seconds faster than I did Park City last year. That would be my ecstatic/happy dance time. We'll see!

Sounds like a nice romantic scenic getaway with a marathon thrown in for good measure. Some people, like Lark, never gets bothered by the altitude. The dryness and cooler temp will probably even things out. Dale might be right on the money. You know the drill...taper, hydrate, carb load. Have a safe drive and enjoy the journey.

Wish I was doing it with you. That sounds like it will be a gorgeous run. Take it easy and enjoy it. I am sure you will be suprised by how well you will do.

From Rhett on Mon, Jun 01, 2009 at 18:47:53 from 170.215.58.122

Have fun next week. I'm excited to hear all about it.

From Rhett on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 18:37:09 from 170.215.58.122

Are you tapering this week or just not posting?

From Marc Elliott on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 23:10:43 from 24.155.140.8

Smooth..yep, I know the drill. I'm going to take it especially easy this weekend. While at the dentist yesterday, they checked my BP and it was 178/80. I made a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. On the way over I got stopped for speeding, which put my BP up around 190/90 when I got there. My doctor put me on a prescription. Time to cut out the salt, cheeseburgers, and brats. Time to start Rhett's diet. We'll see how high my BP is on race morning. Like I said, I might be just going for the scenery.

Huans32 - Wish you were going, too. Have fun at the Art City 5K -- win some great prizes!

Rhett, I took 3 days off of running. Too many commmitments around the homestead this weekend. I ran 4 easy miles today, though.
