| Met Darin and Dave at Lake Grapevine and ran the paved trails. This is the first run with Dave in over a month..he's slowly getting back into it. Ran 8 miles with D&D, then went out for another 4...wished I had time for more. I really need to get some long runs in...and soon. I'm taking some vacation days this week, so perhaps I can find time for a mid-week 18-20 miler. SGM is getting closer! 78F

| My wife went to visit her mother, so I took the week off to spend with the boys. On Monday night we decided to go to Colorado to escape the heat. So I called friends of mine who live outside Denver to see if they would be around and wouldn't mind a few impromtu guests. On Tuesday morning we were on our way. After 13 hours and almost 900 miles of driving we made it to their house on Tuesday night. Ran 6.41 miles with Charlotte at 6:30am. It was about 58 degrees!!!!! Who cares if there's less oxygen..the cool temps more than made up for it! AP: 9:05 58F, sunny |

Still in Denver (Westminster). Got up and ran with Glen. He's not a runner, but he fooled me. He's extremely fit, but mainly rides bikes. Ran 9 miles with him at about 8:43 pace. After our 9, I ran another 4 with Glen's wife, Charlotte. AP w/ Glen: 8:43 (9.00 miles) AP w/ Charlotte: 10:00 (4 miles) After breakfast, I took the boys to Rocky Mountain National Park - we entered through Estes Park (about 60 miles from where we were staying). We drove the scenic drive to 12,000 feet (Alpine Visitor Center). We loved seeing snow!!!!

| Still in Denver. My hosts have a friend who is training for her first marathon, and she needed to run 18 miles on Friday, so I tagged along for 16 of those miles (she lives about 1 mile from Glen and Charlotte's). I was a little nervous, hoping I would be able to finish 16 miles, especially because I had just run 13 the day before, and we're at 5000 ft altitude. The altitude was no problem. It was another beautiful morning with temps in the high 50s. Sweet! Started the run with 9:00/mi pace, but after the first 7 we slowed down. Natalie was very fit, and should have no problem finishing her first marathon (she's ridden several 100-mile bike rides in the past). AP: 9:35 After the run, we took our kids to Water World, where I walked/climbed a few more miles in the park...riding anything and everything that the kids wanted to try. Lots of run on the slides, tubes, and rafts. It was an excellent time!
