It was 26 degrees this morning..a bit colder than I'm used to running in. Couldn't find my tights, so wore sweatpants over shorts, long sleeve shirt, Boston 2009 jacket, hat, and gloves. Met Ty, Corey, Rick, and Don at the trailhead. Ty is a little more my speed, and was planning to run 10 miles. The other guys were planning on 8. I figured we should all finish at about the same time.

Decided up front to run slower (9:00/mi) out (5 miles) and then pick up the pace on the way back. What is it with my running buddies?? We had an 8:15 AP at the 5 mile mark..a little fast than we planned, but it felt good.

We managed to pick it up a little on the way back and caught the other guys before we got back to the parking lot. I ran the last mile quickly -- trying to go sub 7:00. Was a good run. 8 days out from White Rock Marathon.

I'm also confirmed as the 3:40 pacer for the Cowtown Marathon at the end of February.

Wow pretty fast splits! Good luck in 8 days...what are your goals for this race?

From MarcE on Sat, Dec 05, 2009 at 12:32:18 from 206.225.68.25

Kathy - I'm not sure, yet of my goal. When I first signed up my goal was to just finish -- I was going to run it at a 10:00+ pace with my friend Corey(running his first 1/2 marathon). But, I've gotten some of my mojo back in the past 4 weeks, so I'm thinking of maybe 7:30/mi--or faster if the conditions are right. We'll see!

Wow, not long ago you were talking about possibly not running another marathon again. Now you are already back at it. Make sure you have a fun race. It will be good for you mojo in the future.

AWESOME long run, PERFECT taper for White Rock! You're gonna do GREAT! Can't wait to read all about it! How fun to pace at Cowtown again! Did I ever tell you how AWESOME you are?

From MarcE on Wed, Dec 09, 2009 at 20:05:04 from 206.225.68.25

Rhett - I know. I thought my running days were done. The weather is supposed to be awesome on Sunday for White Rock, I'm very tempted to upgrade to the Full Marathon, but I'll stick with the half.

Thanks, Smooth -- you're AMAZING!
