Run w/ Darin before work. I felt a bit sluggish, even though yesterday was a rest day. The continuous string of 100+ degree days is getting old..we surpassed the 2nd place record with 31 consecutive days over 100 degrees at DFW. The all-time record is 69...we probably have shot at that one. Overnight lows are around 82-85 now..yes, I'm complaining...I think this year will be my last Fall marathon, as long as I'm still living in Texas...it's just too hot for training..yes, I'm a wimp...give me 50s and 60s, and I'm happy! :)

Did you read that artical in Runners world?? About those running in heat and doing a fall marathon?? Good read for you I am sure. I thought about you and how well you perform in elevation and in the cool temps when you do come up and do them. Good read for sure.:)

yeah man, that heat just sucks the life out of you. It might be a good idea what you are thinking. Even getting up really early it is hard to do the tempo and long runs you need to do for a fall marathon. Maybe if you stick to a late fall one, you'd have time to build the base in summer and then hit the longer runs and tempos in the late sept-dec time frame.

I decided that last year, that I wouldn't do anymore Fall marathons. That's why I didn't sign up for SGM this year. It's just too hard to train well here in Havasu during the summer. Keep up the good work though.

Why didn't you all talk me out of signing up for the lottery back in April???? :)

Cause we want to see you in Oct! :)

Sorry about the heat! I heard it's gonna hit 113 tomorrow! Yikes!

Oh man, that's brutal. And I thought it was bad here. I don't blame you and Rhett for not wanting to train during the summer. I hate it, too. I guess that's why I do it on the treadmill during the summer.

Maybe you should sign up for Ogden or the Salt Lake Marathon....or even UVM again. So many choices.
