Ran w/ Darin (and some with Eric...Eric dropped back due to all the weight training he had done before we started). It was drizzly and 67F when we started (nice..could have been a few degrees cooler, but I'm not complaining.:)

7:31, 7:36, 7:38, 7:30, 6:30 (The last mile was approximate because Darin had the only watch...I told him I was going to turn it up a notch on the last mile, and wave my hand when I hit the start/finish point...he came in 45 seconds behind me with a 7:15. I'll take it...felt great!

Feet feel fine...wife is coming down with a cold or something...I'm quarantining myself until I leave for St George! (Can't afford to get sick now )

Nice job, marc..have you noticed that people around us ALWAYS get sick within two weeks before a marathon? My kids had a cold and gave it to me. I'm just getting over it. Hope you don't get it.

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 21:54:05 from 71.219.96.151

No, do not get sick!!!! Tell your wife she must get better fast! Are you coming alone to St George or does your family come with you?

Nice splits, you are freakin' fast.

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 21:58:35 from 71.219.96.151

Wait, i want to change that....you are friggin' fast!

From MarcE on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 22:06:42 from 24.155.140.8

Dale - Yep, that's how it goes. SGM 2007 I was sick for the whole week before and finally went to a doctor when I returned home -- sinus infection..and I still managed to BQ, somehow. It is magic..but I don't want to go through the entire week of coughing my lungs out before the big day! (it's strange, I coughed right up until we started, ran the whole thing, and then started coughing again later that night...it was weired)

Kelli - I like to think I'm "friggin' freakin' fast for a fat 44 year-old foagie" I'm pretty sure I'd be very competitive in the 195lb weight class!! :)

From MarcE on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 22:35:33 from 24.155.140.8

Kelli - I forgot to answer you question. I'm coming to Utah solo..again. If they would make this when the kids are not in school, it might be easier to swing a family roadtrip. I fly into SLC on Thursday and am riding down with Tom Slick (Lloyd Hansen..you really need to meet him) from the Forumflyers. We're sharing a room...in a totally, economically sensible, man-friend, sort of way. And no, Fly, we're not taking is Harley. :)

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 22:45:19 from 71.219.96.151

BROMANCE, huh?

Lucky us Utah people, at least our school district anyway. It is fall break so we get to bring all 5 kids with us.

Are you tall? 195? You do not look it. But, yes, you would take 1st I am sure. Have you ever entered as a Clydesdale (such a friendly term)?

From DonGardinero on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 22:55:16 from 152.216.7.5

Marc...The Thursday before last year's SGM I felt like I had a major cold. I had all the symptoms, but then when I woke up Friday morning, it was all gone. Not even a single sniffle. It was amazing!!!

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 23:02:39 from 75.169.26.101

Nice job, and very nice finish.

From MarcE on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 23:25:20 from 24.155.140.8

Kelli - BROMANCE!! Love it..never heard it before. I'm not tall..only 6'1". I carry all my weight in my legs, mostly. I won the Clydesdale division 200-215 class at OK City in 2007!!! I have a huge, glass plaque to show for it. :-) I actually placed 8th in the Clydesdale division at SGM '07, but because I had lost some weight before the race, I sent back the award...true story. :) Most Clydesdale divisions start at 200 pounds for men..I'm not going to intentionally bulk up for it...200 is one of those psychological barriers I never want to go back over.

See Dale, it is a magical race!

Thanks, RP!

Marc ~ You're so stinkin' FAST! C'mon! Why isn't Slick bringing his Harley? I remember you drove to Utah in 2007 and hiked the grand canyon after the race. Are you flying home on Sun?

From MarcE on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 23:50:28 from 24.155.140.8

Smooth - I'm flying home Monday afternoon...hey, we should do lunch! (I've been craving some of your Chinese cooking! Is Lehi close to Sandy?)

From Smooth on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 23:57:46 from 97.117.81.161

Yes Lehi is 15 min. south of Sandy! We should do lunch, my treat! But don't expect me to cook though after the marathon. I'll be dead!

From DonGardinero on Fri, Sep 18, 2009 at 00:03:06 from 152.216.7.5

Ooooh, free lunch!!! Count me In. Just kidding.

Hey Marc, I like your disclaimer. Nice!

From Huans32 on Fri, Sep 18, 2009 at 11:14:01 from 138.64.2.76

Oh I want some Chinese food from Smooth too. And I wont even ask what we are eating. Just as long as it isnt spicy hot.:)

And Marc, dude those are some speedy miles there man. Did you not warm up and just hit it fast like that?? Very nice job. And that last mile SMOKEN'!!!!

From Kathie on Fri, Sep 18, 2009 at 13:45:54 from 63.248.105.188

Nice run Marc stay healthy!!!!

From Kelli on Fri, Sep 18, 2009 at 17:01:33 from 71.219.96.151

200 pounds for men and a mere 145 for women, hmmmm....not fair. BUT you are tall (men around this house max out at 5' 7"), so that is not a lot of weight at all.

You have never heard of Bromance???? You must not read People Magazine or watch Entertainment Tonight (guilty pleasures).

From Kelli on Fri, Sep 18, 2009 at 17:03:46 from 71.219.96.151

Oh....do I get to come to lunch? Sandy is only 20 minutes away, Lehi is only 20 minutes away.

From MarcE on Sat, Sep 19, 2009 at 01:25:27 from 24.155.140.8

Smooth...lunch on Monday sounds great. My flight is at 4:something. When is everyone else heading back home from St George. Lloyd is taking me as his guest to the 10-year club party, but it would be cool to do something after the race on Saturday...it's always fun to sit, eat, and hobnob with running buddies after a marathon. I hope we have a few new BQs to celebrate!!!!

So, Smooth, lunch sounds like fun.

Thanks, Dale...I know a few times I've typed stuff (usually when I'm in a hurry), and second guess it later..

MarkO - I'm thinking 7:20 at St George are going to feel a lot better than they do here in Texas!

Kelli - nope, I don't read People or watch ET...everything I learn is from the internet!! :) (I'm sure Smooth wouldn't mind a few others at lunch..fine with me. It'll be fun!
