Lunchtime run w/ Darin. 55F, Sunny...perfect!

Ran in the VFFs again -- had no real plan for the run. Just took it out at a comfortable pace, and kept it about the same. Really liking the VFFs! I don't think they're slowing me down at all...just takes a little getting used to them. Feet feel great. Calves are still a little tight..but improving. Going to have to try a long run in them. Today was the longest run in them, so far (6.2 miles)

Enjoy your VFFs.

Do you notice a difference in your gait with the Fingers on when compared to your other running shoes? Aside from the calf tightness, have you seen any ankle tightness or soreness? Inquiring minds (mine) want to know!

From Teena Marie on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 23:12:55 from 174.52.45.85

Check out those speedy miles!!! WOW!!!

From MarcE on Fri, Mar 19, 2010 at 10:32:57 from 206.225.68.79

Maynard - Honesly, I've always run on my toes, so I really don't notice any real difference in my gait -- except going down hills. You can't help but land on your heals going down hills -- and without the cushion of a shoe, you tend to take shorter steps. The more I use them, the easier they're getting. At first I was running about 45seconds to a minute slower per mile at the same effort as before. But now, I'm converging on my old "regular shoe" speed. I don't feel any new ankle soreness (the outside of my left ankle has been sore for about a year--not sure what happened, but I tweaked something. It's not a major pain, but noticeable. The VFFs have neither helped nor hurt the ankle pain. My feet feel fine, and I haven't experienced any knee pains...It's been about 2 weeks running in them. I'll let you know how my long run goes this weekend.

Wow...I think Teena, Kathie, and Smooth are more excited for me going to Boston than I am about me going to Boston (this means I have to train a little, and figure out what shoes to wear...

VFFs or get a new pair of light-weight running shoes????) I'm placing very little pressure on myself as far as goals for Boston -- If I feel good, I'll probably go for a 3:30 or better (I have not been cranking the miles to give a new PR a shot). IF I don't get my 3:30 at Boston (my new BQ time), I'll have to get it at UVM :)

I really am excited about going to Boston -- even if I don't show it!!! :)
