I ran alone today after work. I didn't get started until 6:00pm and it was getting dark so I did the 1 mile loop around the Motorola campus. It's a nice loop and exactly 1 mile. It has a nice drop of about 60 feet followed by a climb of 60 feet, and about 3/4 miles is very flat. It was a good night to practice my marathon pacing pace (8:24).

 3 8:32
 4 8:26
 5 8:29
 6 8:31
 7 8:13
 8 8:33

I averaged 8:23 -- right on average, but my standard deviation is a bit wide. I only looked at my watch after each mile and tried to adjust accordingly. Not bad. I'm really set on trying to hit the 3:40:00 on the button in less than 9 days at Cowtown.

Today's food (I'm going to start tracking my intake. It might make me think twice about eating too much unhealthy stuff):

Breakfast: 2 bowls of frosted mini wheats w/ 1% milk. 8 oz of OJ

Lunch: Fajitas and all the fixin's at Joe T Garcia's in Ft Worth. 2 glasses unsweet iced tea.

Dinner: Leftover Rice-A-Roni with chicken added. 1 birthday cupcake with chocolate frosting. A dozen grapes. 2 small chocolate hearts from Valentine's Day. 2 glasses 1% milk.

Going to do Pushups now...woohoo.

Great job, Marc!!! Is there online tracking for this marathon? That would be cool.

Birthday cupcake? Did we miss someone's birthday or is it from your daughter's B-Day recently?

Oh I run just so I can eat the unhealthy food. Perhaps that is why I still have an extra 10 pound on my booty!

Your pace looks pretty good are you going to look at your watch more often during the race? Or you can set you Garmin to beep if you go too slow or too fast.

Hey Kathie (sorry, I'm bouncing all over the place on these blogs..how does one keep up. I better not make any new friends, I barely have time to run. :-)

I will wear my Garmin, but I will not trust the mileage. (for some reason, I've found that 1 mile on the Garmin is not always a mile on the course. Sometimes the Garmin is short. I'll wear the Garmin to track my HR and the splits for my post-race stats, but I'm going to dig out my old Timex Ironman with 30-lap splits and use it to mark my "real" splits as I pass the mileage markers on the course. I'll check my splits against my wristband (which is elevation adjusted) and adjust speed to keep as close to it as possible. This is going to be so much fun! Can't wait..

I know I could just look at the "Elapsed Time" on the Garmin, but I'll wear the Timex as a backup -- I accidentally stopped my Garmin once during a race and lost a couple miles before I realized it was off. Not taking any chances. :-)

Hey Dale..no online tracking for Cowtown. It's not that big. Though the results should be posted shortly afterwards.

All 3 or my kids birthdays span about a 3 week period (end of January, through 21-Feb) No more cupcakes for a while!

Well, I'll be sure to check the times after your race. Do you already know the names of any races in your group or will you find out race morning?
