Got my butt out the door early this morning...woohoo! Only and easy 4 miles. Wanted to get a run in and have time to make breakfast for the family. Most of my runs have been after work. It's good to get a feel for what it's like to run in the mornings. Race day is only 6 more wakeups away. I sure love the anticipation leading up to a marathon.

After my run, I made pancakes and waffles for the family (my in-laws were still here). I'm such a bad influence on them. They see the types of food I eat and must be thinking "and this guy runs marathons".

bfast: 1 waffle and 2 pancakes w/ strawberries and whipped cream, butter, syrup, 1 cup of coffee, 1 cup OJ.

lunch: Pizza Hut buffer (I'll spare the sordid details). It was my wife's parents' treat..I couldn't say no. Though I did drink water with the meal.

dinner: Sonic Chicken Wrap, oranage slushy. 3 homemade cookies.

(I plan to go coffee-less for the rest of the week..I only back-slid this week due to my MIL being in town, and it was there). I am so weak...

Sure, use your MIL as excuse...just kidding. Have a great taper week! You're gonna be the BEST pacer at Cowtown. Can't wait to read your report.

Hey Marc, I hope that sore throat is nothing. Nothing worse than feeling like you're getting sick before a race. The day before St. George Marathon I felt like I had a major cold, but the next day I felt like a million bucks.

Wow Marc, I'm impressed with your ability to eat and still run fast! I'm guessing carb loading this week won't be too hard for you.

Wow I wish I could eat like you, I just smell cookies and gain 5 pounds!

Marc, I'm not a regular coffee drinker and I limit my caffeine intake from other sources. I don't have any caffeine during taper for a race. Come race day I really appreciate that extra boost from caffeinated gels. I'm guessing you're reducing caffeine because of your blood pressure? Are you planning to have caffeine on race day?
