Due to the boys' soccer tournament on Saturday, I had to get my last longish run in before Cowtown on Sunday. Met up with Ty after church. We decided to run on a country road near his house. Lots of long hills. Wind was strong on the way out, but felt good to have it behind us on the way back in. Ty said his calf was bothering him, so we planned to go out slow (9:00s)-- like so many times, what we planned and what we end up doing differed a bit. The rain that we had in the morning stopped and the sun came out just in time for us to run. It was about 65F. Nice!

I'm still thinking about Boston -- once I get past Cowtown, I'll seriously consider all my options. (my wife has a friend who lives in Boston -- would be a little weird to stay with her by myself. I'm still open to finding another roommate -- I'm pretty sure I have enough frequent flyer points to pay for the trip...there's so many other races I'd like to go to....Honestly, I really like Boston, but the 3 marathons I've run in Utah have been so much fun! I'm so wishy-washy...)

I hope you end up being able to do it all- Boston, UT, etc.

This week is Cowtown right?

From MarcE on Mon, Feb 22, 2010 at 19:42:27 from 206.225.68.76

Yep, Cowtown on Saturday...ready or not, here it comes! (3:40, 8:23/mi)

Oh, I hope hope hope you can do Boston AND UT! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Have fun at Cowtown on Sat. Can't wait to read all about it! :)

so you're thinking of not doing Boston ?

From MarcE on Tue, Feb 23, 2010 at 00:32:40 from 206.225.68.189

Smooth -- you know I'll definitely regret it if I don't go to Boston. I'll seriously consider my options.

Tim -- yes, unfortunately, Boston is not cheap, and I've come to the realization that maybe my financial priorities may need some rearranging (Megan start's college this fall, we're having the family come down for her graduation, summer vacation, etc..) I PRed at Boston last year, and I'd like to go back again -- but Beth can't join me this year, so I'll most-likely try to get in next year. But, I sort of wing things, so you never know, I might just show up there..

That's a tough decision to make. I'm already having second thoughts about running the Grand Slam this year due to the cost. The price of Park City went up and so did St. George. Throw in the cost of the hotels and new shoes for each marathon and it makes it a little too pricey. The hotel alone for St. George is over $300. I waited too long and that was the only room I could find.

Yeah I totally understand. I'd love to do NYC, Chicago, and Boston, but I can compete just as much here at the home races.

I am thinking of maybe a 50 miler in Nashville in October. That's probably as far as I'll get for a race this year. But dragging the family along to wait around for me for 8-10 hours - probably not so much fun for them. Tough call. We like Nashville, and we probably wouldn't get there otherwise, Maybe need to just take them to the beach for a couple nights instead.

Marc, are you guys getting snow today? What's the weather forcast for your pace race Saturday?

From MarcE on Tue, Feb 23, 2010 at 19:15:18 from 136.182.2.26

Dale--Lloyd just got a room for St George for something like $35/night on Expedia.com. Give it a try. He said it is only 5 blocks from Worthen Park. You can cancel your other reservation.

Rhett -- we got a little snow out by me. But not much. It's falling more south of us. Saturday should be fine. Around 37 at the start, going up to about 50 by the finish. Not sure about wind. It should be dry, though.
