I gave the new Asic Speedstars a try today. Not bad. After only running in the VFFs for the past 3 weeks, I was surprised at how good regular shoes felt.

Ran 6 miles at lunch w/ Darin. 60F, sunny, 10 MPH wind. AP: 7:35

Ran 11 miles after work in Ft Worth. I ran the El Scorcho 5K loop a few times -- it's a different perspective running it during daylight hours instead of after midnight (I signed up for the El Scorcho 50K, again -- my offer still stands, if anyone wants to run this, you're welcome to stay at my house, and I'll even provide transportation.)

Ran the 11 miles a bit slower than the lunctime 6.

Overall 17 mile AP: 7:59

My right heel is a little tender, but not too bad. I'll be resting it every other day from here until Boston.

Nice run(S)! Can you believe we're less than 3 weeks away?

El scorcho #3?!!! YAY! Thanks for the offer, but no thanks! Scorcho in July in Texas does not sound fun; not to mention the insanely endless loops! You're a manimal! :)

Smooth - I really don't expect any takers for El Scorcho Quatro...but the offer always stands. :)

20 days and counting. Unfortunately, my training and miles this year have not been enough for me to attack the course this year, so this is going to be more of a leisurely, social event for me. Lots of pictures...I'm gonna find that statue on Heartbreak Hill this year! You on the other hand..I see a PR in your near future!

I would love to come run that race. It sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I just couldn't afford the trip at this time.

Resting every other day sounds like a good plan, let that heel heal :) Boston here you come!!!!!

From Kathie on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 14:47:37 from 63.248.105.188

Nice run, how are the toes? Are the VFF still stinky?

From MarcE on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 14:53:39 from 206.225.68.62

Dale - you're always welcome.

MrsFIT - yep. I'm all in favor of the rest days.

Kathie - I put the VFFs away until after Boston (actually, now is a good time to wash them, thanks for the reminder :). I stepped on a rock on Friday, and it did something to my heel that doesn't feel quite right...I'll wear the Speedstars at Boston (I'm so fickle..always changing my mind, adjusting, as needed)

From Rhett on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 16:25:15 from 74.32.222.202

Marc, I think if you find that statue, you get to subtract 10 minutes off your time. I've looked for it every year and never found it, not even last year when I was just cruising the second half of the course trying to take in all the sights and sounds of the Great Boston Marathon.

From Huans32 on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 18:09:44 from 138.64.8.52

Right on. Great run Marc. And even better doing it in new shoes. Your going to do awesome at Boston I am sure. Rest up that heel and you kill do great.

From MarcE on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 23:34:02 from 206.225.68.62

Rhett..I know it's at the base of Heartbreak hill. I'm just not sure if it's on the right or left hand side of the road! :) (I stayed to the left both times I've run it..it must be on the right)

Thanks, Mark-O!
