Got up at 3:30AM and headed to Colleyville (a 50 mile drive) to run with a group from one of the local running stores. It was lightly raining when I left the house (I was only slightly tempted to turn around and climb back in bed)

I met up with Jon who is running Twin Cities on 10/4. We ran the first 16 miles together at about 8:20/mi, then he said his stomach was bothering him (he wasn't used to the Accelerade that they put out for the runners). So, I left him, and picked up the pace. Ran the last 4 miles at ~7:30.

I'm liking the Honey Stinger gels (tastes just like honey..I'm thinking they are honey). I took one at 5, 11, and 15. Had lots of energy in the tank at the finish.

I think I'm officially starting my taper for St George. I'll run 15 next weekend, then probably 10 for my long run the following weekend.

I weighed myself after I got home from today's run..191. Not too bad, considering I was 200 on Monday (I think I retained a lot of water over the long weekend...can sea water do that to you? Or was it the frozen daquiri's? Dunno)

70F, light rain, light wind...felt great!

Taper time begins!!!!!

MarkO - I ordered a new Garmin 305 yesterday. I'll definitely have it at SGM, so we can hit all our splits. Now it's time to start studying the spreadsheet.

Nice run especially with those last 4 at 7:30. You must of still had a lot in the tank. What flavor of the Honey Stingers are you usining. I think I'm going to order some.

Great run! I would love to see you bring Jeff & Mark in at that BQ. No one deserves it more!

From MarcE on Sat, Sep 12, 2009 at 12:40:13 from 24.155.140.8

Rhett - thanks. The Honey Stingers say "GOLD" on the top."Pure Natural Energy", "FAT FREE 120 CALORIES CARBS", "HONEY with B Vitamins"

Ingredients: honey, pure water, potassium citrate, salt, maltodextrin, B3, B5, B6, B2, B1, B12.

Thanks, Mike..I'm only hoping I can hang with Mark and Jeff. It's those last 4 or 5 miles that I worry most about. (I'm a bit of a fader at the end...usually...that's why I wanted to finish today's long run strong)

Very nice, Marc, especially at the end. You're going to do great at SGM.

From Kelli on Sat, Sep 12, 2009 at 23:11:06 from 71.219.97.42

Glad to see you ran in good weather for a change, but 3:30 is crazy early to get up for a run! What a nice guy to get up at the crack of dawn to run with people. Enjoy your taper and spreadsheet studying.

You're all so kind.

Hey, Is it just me, or do any of you feel a little irritable the day after a 20 miler? Just wondering...

From timp on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 08:47:24 from 129.188.33.25

Hey Marc, I'm irritable the day before a big long run (or a race) cause I worry about it. They day after I'm relieved and usually in a good mood.

From Huans32 on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 09:10:45 from 138.64.2.76

Awesome job on the run. Looks like you found the one cool spot in Texas.:) Light wind and rain got to love it. And the last few fast to boot. I wish I had more left in the 20 miler I just did. And good to know you got a 305 for the race too.:) Your looking very strong man. I can't wait to run with you and Jeff.

As for the spreadsheets. I called and talked with Jeff. And I think he is looking over both of them too. And we are leaning more towards Cougars pacer. For the end of the race. It sounds like we are all 3 faders in the end so we should really stick closely to the paces early on to finish strong. Its looking like at least Jeff, you and me are looking strong still for a BQ. Might have Mike and Scott join us too. And anyone else.:)

From Kelli on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 14:13:54 from 71.219.96.151

I am always irritable!!!

Nice job MarcE! I've thought about trying those Honey Stingers, heard nothing but good things about them. Looking forward to meeting you soon :)
