Today was supposed to be a hill workout, but when Eric and I got to the hill -- someone (maybe me) suggested that we just make it an easy day. Neither of us really felt like running hills today...we'll do them tomorrow. Very humid. HR was at 168 when I finished (last mile was 7:33 pace).

80 degrees, 65% himidity, SSW 15mph

Kathie - :-)

I also know how you feel...I don't feel like doing anything at all today.

Way to push through the "I don't wanna run today" blues!!! LOVED YOU COMMENT ON KELLI'S BLOG ~ I CHERISH EACH OF MY MEDALS TOO!!

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 16:14:37 from 71.219.76.64

It must be contagious today! Maybe it is the humidity.

Great pace Marc!!!!

I can not wait for that dang BOSTON medal. I am going to frame it and put it on my front door.

From Smooth on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 17:38:05 from 71.32.232.156

Marc, what's with the .17? It's killing me too. I expect you to round it up on the hills tomorrow, ya hear? :)

From Teena on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 20:11:44 from 67.177.20.13

I'm dreading hills. I haven't ran them for so so so long. I need to soon!!! :)

Nice pace for an easy day! :)

From MarcE on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 20:20:30 from 129.188.33.25

Kathie/Smooth -- Sorry about the .17 miles. I was so beat, as soon as I got the the top of the hill by our parking lot, I hit "stop" on the Garmin, and walked from there. I'll keep going for the extra .03 next time! :)

MrsFIT - I think medals are fine. My two boys absolutely love the medals they receive just for finishing their "Kid-K's". It gets them excited about running. There's probably an age when "participation" type awards given to everyone should be a little harder to come by. I think all races of half marathon or greater should give "finisher" medals. If you don't believe in them, refuse yours at the finish line. But, for me and my house, we love collecting those little trinkets that remind us of each race we've finished.

Kelli - You have earned the right to run the Boston Marathon. When you (and Teena and Scott) finish that thing, wear that medal proudly. Hanging it on your front door might be a little over the top! :)

Thanks, Teena. You'll be attacking those hills in no time.

From Kelli on Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 00:19:35 from 71.219.76.64

What if I hang it on the inside of my front door? Or how about around my rearview mirror in the car. Maybe it will get me out of a ticket when I finally do some major damage reversing into cars!!

From DonGardinero on Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 19:51:46 from 75.162.100.171

Did you run some hills today, Marc?

From MarcE on Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 22:19:22 from 24.155.140.8

Kelli - Good plan! I'm sure it'll get you out of a ticket. (having a hubby who's a cop, wouldn't hurt either)

Dale - you caught me. Took a rest day. I'm thinking of running a 5K race tomorrow morning...thinking about it, but I have so much to do around the house.

From DonGardinero on Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 22:30:12 from 75.162.100.171

Well, good luck if you do the 5k tomorrow. Can't wait to read about it...if you do it.

From DonGardinero on Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 22:35:56 from 75.162.100.171

Hey Marc...

I'm thinking about following the training plan in the current issue of RunnersWorld, but I'm confused about the hill running. In the training program he only has us running hills the first 8 weeks. Am I missing something here? I thought there should be hill training throughout a training program, not for the first half only. I mean, surely Bart Yasso knows what he is doing when it comes to training marathoners. What are your thoughts?
